Education is more than academic achievement, good
grades, SAT scores, or getting into a great college. All of these have
their place, of course, and we continually improve our curriculum and
our programs to enable our students to achieve these objectives. The ability to set goals, reach for them and
achieve them, begins with a valuation of self. Self-esteem can be fostered by a caring community and engendered
by meeting small successes day by day. The fine arts encourage us all to learn the basic tools of communication in
our world, to see new perspectives, to work with others toward a common goal, to express our individual talents
and to show respect for the talents and contributions of others. Education begins with respect for children and
appreciation for who they are and what they will contribute. From that, everything else arises quite naturally.
The Academy provides learners with an arts-centered curriculum in a
technology-infused environment and builds for parents, teachers and learners a learning
community which practices choice theory and is directed toward lifelong learning.

River Arts Academy was founded in 1996 to deliver arts-centered educational services and consulting in
the Northeast Oklahoma region. Integrated arts curriculum development, teacher training, technology infusion in the
classroom, music technology, and quality learning in a classroom environment are services we provide.
Belief
At River Arts Academy, we believe that education is more than just the
accumulation of facts or uniform, standardized experiences at specific grade levels.
Children and the innate ability to learn are the greatest natural resource on the planet.
Fostering and nurturing the growth of sensitive, intelligent, creative spirits seeking to learn, to grow, and to
express their unique excellence is what we are about. The purpose of education is to provide a safe,supportive
environment that will empower and enable a learning community to protect and energize the learner in the learning
